10th Station - Jesus is stripped of His garments

We adore You, O Christ, and we praise you. For by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

Verse: When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four shares, a share for each soldier. They also took his tunic, but the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from the top down. So, they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it will be,” in order that the passage of scripture might be fulfilled that says: “They divided my garments among them, and for my vesture they cast lots.”. (John 19:23-24)

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, the soldiers removed your clothes and exposed your body, disfigured with wounds and blood, to the jeers and contempt of the people You loved. My soul was once beautiful when it received Your grace in Baptism; but I have since disfigured it by my sins. You alone, my Redeemer, can restore my soul to its former beauty. Jesus, I repent of all my sins. I love You with all my heart. Holy Spirit, strip me of all desires for the things of earth and grant that I may be clothed only in genuine love of others. Amen.
